Meet 21 year old Steve Raymundo from the province of Ilocos Norte in the Philippines. Steve Raymundo says he once got into a fight and was struck in the face with a rock. Ever since, he’s suffered from Sphenoid Aneurysm which causes him to lose large amounts of blood which flows heavily out through his nostrils. Blood loss is so significant, he often falls unconscious by the time bleeding stops.
In medical terms, an aneurysm is a condition associated with damaged or weakened blood vessels. The spot where the blood vessel is damaged has the tendency to bulge and swell like a balloon. If the balloon ruptures, severe hemorrhage is usually unavoidable. The sphenoid bone is a butterfly shaped bone located deep within the skull, just beneath the pterion.
